2012 Pension Bill

2012 Pension Bill

The government has upped the ante in terms of the penalties it can impose on businesses that fail to comply with Health and Safety legislation. Changes introduced in the Health and Safety (2008) Offences Act are, according Marc Schroder, 'the most fundamental in ten years.

Mr. Schroder, CEO of Newcastle based mhl support, said 'the repercussions of not being able to prove your business is compliant have just become far more serious. Essentially, the changes mean that it is much more likely that steeper fines and even prison sentences will be imposed for even simple breaches of H&S legislation.'

In response to numerous calls to its advice helpline, mhl is holding a seminar at Puxton Park, Cowslip Lane, Hewish, Weston-Super-Mare on Thursday 2 July. Doors open at 8.15 a.m. and the session will conclude at 10.30. Attendance at the event and refreshments will be free of charge for local business people.

Also on the agenda will be the new Pension Legislation 2012, which will make it compulsory for employers to fund employees' pensions. Mr. Schroder said 'it is inevitable that this piece of legislation will result both in disruption and increased costs and it's vital that businesses understand how the bill will impact upon them. That's why we'll be offering those who come to our seminar an opportunity to book a free consultation to enable them to benchmark their current arrangements.'
